I learnt how to behave as a child and a younger man. I have habitually carried on living as I
learned and was taught. I assumed that what worked then would still work now.
Yet, as a mature adult, I am in a very different position, and old behaviours that may have
worked when I was young no longer serve me as they did. For instance, I no longer want to
follow my strong urge to keep safe by staying small.
How do I stop behaving in these outdated ways?
It is the job of my inner leader, my Loving Sovereign, to conduct me out of my conditioned,
adapted nature into who I truly am. It is my Kingly effort to invite all the different parts of me
out into the open so all of me is seen and known. As my Heart King, I love these parts of me
that helped me survive. They got me here.
With love, I support these parts of me to try a different way of being. I love all the parts trying
to keep me safe, and I, as the King, take over ultimate responsibility for my safety. I ask my
safekeepers to keep a look out and advise me if worried, but not try to get me to take any
action. It is my job now to decide what action is taken. In this example, I no longer choose to
stay small.
There is one further step for my King to take. If you would like to know it, please see my next
blog... (coming soon!)
