“You are the result of the love of thousands.”
– Linda Hogan, Chickasaw poet
We come from an endless line of ancestors, stretching back into the mists of time. We
arrived here through them; their lives, dreams, and prayers live in our blood and in the bones
of our souls. Their old truths whisper in our hearts. Their paths and journeys shape our inner
map and continue to walk within us.
They have passed down both their gifts and their burdens. By honouring my life, I honour
theirs. Many believe our ancestors watch over us even now: advocating for us with Spirit,
guiding and protecting us in times of difficulty.
Ancestral spirits hold valuable knowledge, insight, and experience, which they pass down to the living as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Their guidance supports us; their heritage heals and transforms us.
Family dysfunction flows through generations, and each of us is touched by what came
before. When we face and heal the ancestral wounds that live in us, we free both ourselves
and our lineage from old patterns that no longer serve. In doing so, we ensure these burdens will not trouble future generations.
“Our ancestors, through their trials, gave us the strength we need today.”
— Nelson Mandela
